A huge jewellery store complete with its own 'diamond room' and luxury watch boutique has opened in Newcastle city centre following a £1.4m investment.

Family-owned watch and jewellery retailer Beaverbrooks has relocated inside Eldon Square and opened a new store in the former home of Clarks on Hotspur Way.

The new 1,330 sq. ft. Beaverbrooks store features a dedicated ‘diamond room’ where a team of experts will help customers with engagement and wedding ring purchases. A 600 sq. ft. TAG Heuer boutique also adjoins the store which will offer the brand’s renowned collections of luxury watches along with special editions.

Four jobs have been created by the relocation of the store, which comes as Beaverbrooks Newcastle celebrates its 45th anniversary in the city in January.

Anna Blackburn, managing director at Beaverbrooks, said: “We are over the moon to be expanding our long-running and incredibly valued partnership with TAG Heuer to open a new boutique in the city. Add to this our amazing upscaled Beaverbrooks store location with a dedicated diamond room, we are pleased to position ourselves as the expert in jewellery, diamond, bridal and luxury watches.

"We’re confident the new store will be popular with customers – both local and further afield – providing them with access to our diamond and bridal team expertise and latest stunning ranges. We look forward to continuing to provide outstanding levels of customer service, while showcasing our expertise and passion for luxury watches and fine jewellery.”

The Beaverbrooks store is also said to be the only jeweller in the city centre to stock diamond brands ‘Royal Asscher’ and ‘Maple Leaf’, as well as offering watches from Baume and Mercier, Rado and Tissot.

Cormac Hamilton, general manager at Eldon Square was delighted the store was open in time for Christmas.

“Luxury goods continue to be a growing, popular market, so we’re thrilled to have Beaverbrooks in the centre," he said.

"Its heritage as a family-owned jeweller and reputation for quality and elegance, appeals to our customers who enjoy the latest in fine jewellery, diamonds, Swiss and designer watches."

The refurbished Beaverbrooks store and new TAG Heuer boutique are now open on 5 Hotspur Way in the Eldon Square Shopping Centre.
