Charlotte Crosby has opened up about her struggles with 'terrible' and 'unexplained' prenatal depression before giving birth to her first daughter, Alba Jean, last October. The 33-year-old Geordie Shore star, who recently announced her engagement to beau Jake Ankers explained that the mental health condition left her incapacitated - and that she feared it would 'never end'.

Talking about her journey into planned parenthood with Giovanna Fletcher on the Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast, she explained: "It was awful. I got a bit of prenatal depression, it was awful. It felt like it was only two weeks.

"But it was two weeks of feeling like I could not get out of bed. There was a dark cloud hanging over my head. It wasn't that I didn't want the baby. It was just I felt so low."

The Star reports that although Charlotte admitted she didn't experience 'dark thoughts' she said that she was devoid of energy and unable to leave her home or communicate with Jake. She added: "I didn't want to do anything. I just like was flat, I cant even describe it. It's indescribable. When you go through something like that."

Charlotte would start to recover as time passed, returning to her normal, bubbly self that she is known for. The Sunderland-born celebrity recently got engaged to Jake after scenes from the second season of her popular BBC3 show showed her asking her now fiancé about his proposal plans.

She also disclosed her desire to be pregnant again by the time that the third season of Charlotte in Sunderland starts filming. Revealing that she had 'no inkling' that Jake was set to propose in style in Dubai, she admitted to the Daily Mail: "Getting married was never my top priority; having another baby was," adding: "I don't think we'll get married for three years and I've always wanted a long engagement."
