Cheryl fought back tears while discussing a 'magical' Girls Aloud reunion in tribute to late bandmate Sarah Harding. Speaking on The One Show yesterday evening (November 24) the Geordie singer said: "It's very odd, if I'm completely honest.

"We've found every step of the way of this a bit weird. Being totally honest it will never be the same as it was."

Sarah tragically passed away back in September 2021, after a lengthy battle with breast cancer. As Nadine Coyle comforted Cheryl, she added: "But we are just trying our very best to make it magical with Sarah in mind."

The Mirror reports that Kimberley Walsh, went on: "We'd had loads of conversations coming up to our 20 year anniversary and obviously those conversations involved Sarah," adding: "So sadly, after she passed away, that went out the window," before explaining how the group spent a lot of time over the summer and received a lot of love towards their late bandmate.

Kimberley continued: "Suddenly it just felt like, do you know what, maybe we are ready to celebrate those 21 years. And also celebrate her." In agreement, Cheryl, said: "Because she wanted to do it so much as well. We're going to honour her the best way we can and make it magical."

It comes after Cheryl became visibly emotional while speaking about Sarah with Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston on Heart Breakfast earlier in the week, remembering conversations with her fellow singer pertaining to a tour. She said: "I did speak to Sarah one-on-one and she said to me 'I hope you four do something when I'm not here', but in that moment I couldn't entertain that thought."

Kimberley, continued: "We always talk about how much she loved Girls Aloud. She loved it. It was just the best time ever for her, we spoke so much about it the few months before she passed away and how much she loved it, she made us watch old videos."

Girls Aloud announced their nationwide tour earlier this week, but confirmed that there would be no new music alongside it. Nadine, explained: "There is no new music and there is no video - although we've shot a commercial," before Cheryl, added: "Making new music without Sarah would be odd.

"But celebrating what we made together? Fabulous."
