Two people have been taken to hospital following a fire at a Pegswood home.

The emergency services were called shortly before 7am on Wednesday morning, and crews from Northumberland Fire and Rescue, North East Ambulance Service and Northumbria Police all attended the scene. Two people were then transported to hospital by ambulance - though their condition is not yet known.

The fire is understood to have taken place at a home near to the Pegswood Co-op shop. The fire is understood to have been brought under control and extinguished by around 7.19am.


A Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We received a call to a house fire at Pegswood at 6.49 this morning. Three appliances are in attendance, and we used two sets of breathing apparatus."

While a North East Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 6.52am this morning (Wednesday 29 November) to reports of a fire at a private address in Pegswood, Morpeth. We dispatched two ambulance crews who transported two patients to hospital for further treatment."
