A Northumbria Police spokesperson said:
At around 7.35am today (Saturday) police received a report of concern for the welfare of a person within Gateshead East Cemetery on Milvain Street in Gateshead.
Emergency services are currently in attendance at the scene and enquiries are ongoing.
