Jamie-Lynn Spears was left fearing her oldest daughter had died after a terrifying accident at their family home, as the American star recalled the harrowing events of that day to her I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here co-stars on Monday's show.

A rather controversial signing for the new series of the ITV show, given her fractured relationship with famous sister Britney, Jamie-Lynn is said to have sparked fears from producers that she'd make an early exit from the jungle, after struggling during her first days in camp and 'walking out' only to be given the full support of her fellow contestants as they rallied round and convinced her to say.

On Sunday night, I'm A Celebrity viewers saw Jamie-Lynn talk more about Britney and their relationship, predicting that the Toxic singer would be 'concerned' about how she was doing in the jungle, having been taken aback on finding out she'd signed up to do it, with Jamie-Lynn also admitting her regret at how 'public' some of their fallings out have been over the years.

And, during Monday's episode, former Zoey 11 actress Jamie-Lynn shared how she thought she had 'lost' daughter Maddie, after the child was involved in a freak accident at the family home. Revealing what happened as co-stars Fred Siriex and Marvin Humes listened, the 32-year-old explained: "I almost lost my oldest daughter… she drowned and we couldn’t save her. We tried really hard. She was trapped under a little side-by-side that we ride around our pond. This is in 2017. She was 8 or 9 or something like that. My father-in-law, my mother-in-law, me and my husband, we run to jump in to save her and you kind of in that moment you think, this is not real, she’s going to pop up, this isn’t real."

Reliving the fear and panic she felt that day, the 32-year-old continued: "I could feel her arm, and I’m jerking it, I couldn’t get her up because it’s a pretty heavy machine. In that moment you think, you know logically she’s been under water too long… nobody can live if they’ve been under water this long. You logically are thinking these things. "

Jamie-Lynn then told Fred and Marvin that Maddie 'wasn't alive' when emergency services arrived on the scene and she overheard her mother in law tell her mum: "We've lost Maddie," as she prayed for a miracle. Thankfully, a firefighter who rushed into rescue Maddie found a pulse, however, after being airlifted to hospital and put on life support, the little one's condition didn't improve and a priest was called in to give the last rights.

And that is when Jamie-Lynn claimed that her prayers were answered, explaining that Maddie sat up and "her spirit responded to it for whatever reason," with her happy to report that her daughter got stronger and stronger by the day and left hospital with no lasting repercussions from her accident.
