Former Newcastle United midfielder Jermaine Jenas has hailed Tino Livramento for being a special player after his fine performance against PSG in the Champions League.

The 21-year-old showed brilliant pace and trickery in the build-up to Alexander Isak's opening goal, taking on a number of PSG players before setting up the Swedish striker. The summer signing has come into his own in recent weeks after being made to bide his time following his move from Southampton.

Livramento has showcased his versatility playing at left-back on Tuesday night, helping keep Ousmane Dembele and Kylian Mbappe both relatively quiet. Jenas believes Newcastle have found a real star for the future who has already found a way to resonate with the Magpies' fanbase despite only being at the club for a matter of months.

"He’s a special player, this Livramento," Jenas told TNT Sports. "I think every time he’s put on that Newcastle shirt, he finds a new way into the supporters’ hearts.

"They’ve already got songs for him and it’s because he keeps delivering special moments."

Jenas wasn't alone with his praise, with fellow TNT Sports pundit Ally McCoist praising his involvement in the opening goal. He said: "Brilliant, absolutely brilliant. It’s Lewis Miley again, he’s the one who makes the run that drags the defender away that allows Almiron to come in off the right.

"Great movement, it gives Hernandez the problem, Livaramneto does exceptionally well. It’s all Almiron needs, that half-yard, goalkeeper should do better but Isak is no problem from there.

"Great centre-forward positioning - but I’ll say it again, the key move to that goal was Miley making that wee move towards Hernandez that caused him so many problems."
