McDonald's fans are in for a treat as the fast food franchise launches its highly-anticipated festive feast menu.

But to make room for new additions, a number of fan favourites will be temporarily culled until the next menu rotation.

And while many fans of the Golden Arches will be excited to wrap their lips around a brand-new never before seen burger, they may be gutted to wave goodbye to a number of comfort foods from the most recent menu. The highly-rated Philly Cheese Stack will unfortunately make a grand exit, as will the McCrispy BBQ Smokehouse.

Chilli Cheese Bites will be gone as from Wednesday, while the Toffee Apple McFlurry, Halloween M&Ms McFlurry, Toffee Apple Pie and Apple Donut will also stop being served, leaving fans devastated.

But it's not all doom and gloom, with Maccies launching a whole host of new items in wake of the departures. A new burger the Big and Cheesy (also available with bacon) will be available from Wednesday. A 100% beef patty topped with two slices of cheese, red onions, crispy onions and lashed with cheese sauce, the burger is wrapped in a toasted and flour dusted bun.

The much-raved about Chicken Big Mac also makes a grand return in time for Christmas, featuring everything you get in a regular Big Mac (cheese, lettuce, pickles and signature sauce) but the beef is switched out for chicken. Meanwhile, the Cheese Melt Dippers are back in both solo and sharing portions - comprising of breaded camembert served with a tangy tomato dipping sauce.

A McDonald's Chicken Combo is also being added to the menu - made up of ten chicken selects and a share box of 20 McNuggets. Sweet treats launching include the Galaxy Chocolate McFlurry and the Galaxy Caramel McFlurry, while the Galaxy Caramel Pie is also a new addition.

While it means that there will be no Festive Pie this year, there's plenty to enjoy after dinner for those who save room for dessert.
