Mrs Hinch fans praise 37p item which gets toilet 'sparkling' and removes limescale with 'no scrubbing'

Mrs Hinch fans' have revealed their top tip for a 'sparkling' toilet which removes limescale with 'no scrubbing' - and it can cost as little as 37p.

Their advice comes in response to a parent who said they had tried "so many things" to eliminate stubborn limescale stains from their toilet, including white vinegar and bottle of coke. But with little success in shifting the stains the parent turned to members of Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips and Tricks group on Facebook.

Posting anonymously the user explained: "Please don't judge me. I have tried so many things on this toilet, limescale removers, bleach, white vinegar, bottle of coke but nothing is shifting it. It's basically been stained I think where my kids don't always remember to flush the toilet. I hate it and want a nice white toilet again."

Limescale can be found almost anywhere that there is water and can be tricky to remove from kettles, taps, showerheads and toilets. It can build up easily and leave unpleasant stains in your home if you do not treat the affected areas regularly.

It can also damage appliances and impact the efficiency of things like your shower or toilet. For instance, according to the experts at Plumb World, if there is an excess of limescale in your toilet, it can prevent it from flushing properly. It can also minimise the water flow in your taps or showers, potentially leading to an increase in your water bills, something that most people would be keen to avoid, The Mirror reports.

However, bleach won't solve a limescale problem, because it cannot remove it, only hide it by turning the stain white and eventually if there is enough build up even this bleaching of the stains could stop working.

Thankfully, fellow users were quick to offer up solutions for the person's issue, with one in particular a stand out remedy: Harpic Power Plus Active Tablets. "Black Harpic tablets overnight," recommended Barbara Lowe. Another user, Karen Ingram said she uses the product on a weekly basis: "Harpic plus limescale remover tablets. I pop one in my toilet every week keeps it looking sparkling."

Sharon Cieciala agreed, and added that it is a great option that doesn't involve laborious scrubbing: "Harpic tablets the only thing I've found gets rid of that. It's limescale from living in a hard water area. Happens to my son's toilet. One Harpic tablet left a couple of hours gets rid completely no scrubbing needed!"
