A show showcasing mega-hit film Dirty Dancing will be hot-footing it to Newcastle next spring, with a live band and cast bringing the story of Baby and Johnny to vibrant life on stage.
The show Dirty Dancing in Concert has announced a UK tour, which will stop off at the 02 City Hall in March. And tickets for the night blending movie romance with live action will go on sale this week.
The eighties classic film, starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey, became an instant hit with its 1963-set tale of a growing summer romance between dance instructor Johnny and Baby who have the time of their lives during their lessons. The touring show will re-tell it in concert-form while celebrating the multi-award-winning soundtrack - with standout track (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life - said to define a generation.
It will be performed by a live band and singers while a digitally remastered version of the 1987 film is shown on a big screen. And it promises to create a new experience for its fans who also no doubt will be on their feet themselves at an encore party which is set to follow the screening with performances of its greatest hits.
The UK-wide tour will begin in Brighton on March 13 and take in a total of 14 dates, including Newcastle on March 26, before a finale in Edinburgh on March 28. The tickets for the tour will go on pre-sale at 10am this Thursday, November 9 and then will be on general sale from 10am on Friday, November 10. The full tour dates are below.
