Beautiful photographs of Newcastle's Christmas lights show the city at its festive best

Newcastle at Christmas is quite a sight - as pictured by ChronicleLive photographer Craig Connor

Newcastle at Christmastime paints a very pretty picture.

As afternoon turned to dusk turned to evening, ChronicleLive photographer Craig Connor snapped some incredible pictures of a very festive Tyneside. Whether you love the Quayside, Northumberland Street or Grey Street, these pictures show the best of the city.

The Newcastle Christmas lights were turned on during a show that featured Metro Radio's Steve and Karen and the cast of this year's pantomime at the Theatre Royal - Pinocchio - including former X Factor star Joe McElderry.

  • This year, we are also blessed with a festive lights trail in Leazes Park, while the annual Christmas Markets in and around Grey's Monument remains an exciting attraction - with tonnes of fabulous stalls selling gifts and food and drink.

Of course, Newcastle's Christmas wouldn't be the same without Fenwick's Window - this year featuring illustrations from the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis. Let us know which is your favourite of Craig's festive pictures in the comments below.
