Nicola Roberts has sent Girls Aloud fans into a frenzy with a post on Instagram that majorly hints at a reunion from the music icons. And now speculation has started on just what the group has planned.

It's been nearly 21 years that Nicola, together with Cheryl Tweedy, Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh and the late Sarah Harding, all won a place in Girls Aloud, after competing in ITV talent show Popstars: The Rivals. The ladies earned a victory over boyband One True Voice in the race for the 2002 Christmas number one, as Sound of the Underground trounced Sacred Trust to top the charts, going on to stay there for four consecutive weeks.

Girls Aloud set a record for the British female act with the most consecutive UK top 10 hits, thanks to number 1s like I'll Stand By You and The Promise and modern classics like Biology, Something Kinda Ooh, Call The Shots and Love Machine. After first calling it a day in 2009, they reunited in 2012 for comeback single Something New, best of collection Ten and a nationwide tour of the same name.

After Sarah's death following a brave battle with cancer in 2021, the remaining members of Girls Aloud have made a number of public appearances together, most recently at the wedding of PR mogul Simon Jones. Earlier this month, reports surfaced that Nicola, Cheryl, Nadine and Kimberley had reunited to film a video, believed to be a new single, as fans hoped that would mean a tour was on the cards.

Well, now Nicola has given, what looks like a clear indication that reunion plans are in the offing, as she posted a short clip on her Instagram grid on Sunday evening, of a big screen, very much like the one in The Promise video, stuck on the number 4. It didn't take long for her legions of followers to react, with one responding: "I am ready and waiting to go bankrupt!!!!!!" A second replied: "WHAT DOES THIS MEAN NICOLA" as a third commented: "STOP THE WORLD"
