A North Shields teacher will be encouraging young people to follow in his footsteps at a Get Into Teaching event. Ian Wallace from Marden High School will be speaking at the event, which is taking place at St James' Park on Wednesday 29th November from 5pm-8pm.

Mr Wallace, who is a science teacher, will be reflecting on his career to date, and has spoken about what teaching means to him and what it is that motivates him the most. He said: "As a teacher, you have a real opportunity to leave your mark by helping to shape the lives of the next generation, and inspire your students – which can go well beyond the classroom years.

"What motivates me most about my role is no two days are the same, and I go home every day knowing that I may have changed a student’s life by engaging them in science. I’d encourage anyone who has an inkling that teaching might be for them to come along to the event to find out more."
