Newcastle United supporters have taken to social media to agree with former striker Michael Owen following PSG's late equaliser last night. The ex-Magpies striker, who has a strained relationship with the black and white fanbase after his comments regarding playing for the club, said the penalty which led to PSG's equaliser was heart-breaking for the Toon.

Newcastle were on the brink of an historic win at the Parc Des Princes only for Tino Livramento to have been judged to have handled the ball, despite it hitting his chest and then his arm from close range.

Owen posted on X, formerly Twitter: "Heartbreaking for @NUFC. Such a good performance. Never in a million years is that a penalty. We are further away from applying consistency to the handball rule than we’ve ever been."
