A County Durham spa has been recognised as one of the top three in the North East this year in a prestigious awards ceremony.

The Good Spa Guide crowns what it considers to be the best spas in the country each year based on expert opinions, and announced its Regional winners for 2023 this week across nine areas of the UK. Caitlin Dalton, director of The Good Spa Guide, said: "Whether you’re looking for rooftop views over Edinburgh, beachside swimming pools in Cornwall or a glamorous London hideaway, these spas represent the best in the industry."

The top three spas from each region and all of the Best New Spa contenders were invited to a special afternoon tea awards ceremony on Monday, November 27 at Sanderson London where the winners were crowned. Finalists for the North East category included Serenity Spa at Seaham Hall, Spa at Ramside in County Durham and Rockliffe Hall in Darlington, alongside spas in Yorkshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

Serenity Spa was named as a top three North East finalist alongside Rudding Park Spa in Harrogate and Swinton Country Club & Spa in Ripon. While Rudding Park ultimately won the title of Best Spa in the North East 2023, staff at Serenity Spa were delighted to have been named in the top three, having won the prestigious title of Best Spa for Guest Experience earlier this year.

Amanda Jennings, Spa Manager at Seaham Hall, said: "I am both thrilled and deeply honoured to see our efforts recognised through this year's Good Spa Guide Awards. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team.

"The launch of our innovative projects such as the development of our spa's rooftop bar has added a new dimension to our guest experience, providing a unique and serene environment in which to unwind. In addition, the introduction of our new specialist Swell treatments reflects our commitment to staying at the forefront of wellness trends, offering our clients the latest and most rejuvenating therapies using cutting edge technology.

"Additionally, the implementation of Blue Health initiatives underscores our holistic approach, acknowledging the profound connection between water, our coastal environment and well-being," Amanda added. "This year's recognition fuels our passion to continue elevating the spa experience at Seaham Hall, ensuring that each guest leaves feeling not only pampered but also genuinely revitalised.

"It's an exciting affirmation of our commitment to excellence in the world of spa and wellness." This is not the first time the Seaham Hall spa has gained recognition for its outstanding service, having scooped the title of Hotel Spa of the Year in Western Europe and Scandinavia at the World Spa & Wellness Awards in April last year.

Visitors to Serenity Spa can now take up a new luxurious experience with its Blue Health spa and wellness packages, which take inspiration from the hotel's stunning surroundings and the picturesque Durham Heritage Coast. Guests who book the Blue Health Suite Sanctuary package from £625 per night will be provided with a map guiding them to Seaham Beach, where they will take part in an interactive sea glass experience.

Guests can then tuck into a healthy 'Blue Brunch Experience' at the nearby Flamingo Café, with 20% off their meal. Back at Seaham Hall, guests are invited to unwind by making full use of the spa's pampering facilities, including a hydrotherapy pool, Asian herbal sanarium, Zen Garden and more, before enjoying a decadent five course meal at The Dining Room restaurant and falling asleep to a meditative playlist designed by health and wellness sound therapy brand Swell.

There's also the Blue Health Heart of the Hebrides Spa Day Experience from £295 per person, which includes a face and body treatment in the form of a 90-minute ishga 5 Senses ritual. Guests will then enjoy a revitalising Doctor Seaweed smoothie shot, before going on to enjoy a two-course lunch at Seaham Hall's pan-Asian inspired restaurant, Ozone.
