People gathered for early Bonfire Night celebrations at Segedunum Roman Fort & Museum in Wallsend, North Tyneside, on Friday night.

The display took place over the River Tyne, where Swan Hunter used to launch its ships.

Some people waved sparklers as the multicoloured fireworks lit up the dark night sky.

Others chose to watch the display from the 35 metre high viewing tower on the World Heritage Site.
