A1 update

We contacted police regarding the reported crash on the A1. The force says officers were called after a motorist reported a bird hitting their windscreen.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “After 9.20am today (Wednesday), a driver reported he suffered damage to his windscreen after it was struck by a bird.

“One lane of the A1 was closed as a precaution, and the vehicle has been recovered from the carriageway.”
