Jesmond Road - police statement
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said:
“Shortly after 6am today (Thursday), we received a report of a collision on the A1058 in Jesmond, Newcastle. Emergency services are in attendance and no-one is believed to have been injured in the incident.”

Tailbacks remain across the Jesmond area and down the Coast Road - with their also queues on the A19 southbound at the Silverlink.

What's happened?
What appears to be a collision is now causing delays in both directions in Jesmond Road - which follows the top of the Coast Road on the route between North Tyneside and Newcastle. We've contacted the police and will bring you more as we get it this morning.

There are reports a lane of the A1058 near to the Punch Bowl pub in Jesmond is closed due to a collision.
Reports of collisions in County Durham
Reports of incident on A688 in both directions from Cleves Avenue (Ferryhill) to Thinford Street (Comforth) - but traffic is coping well. An incident in Alma Place, Durham has now been resolved.
Early Metro delays - 'points fault'
Trains delayed leaving the depot this morning.
"Due to a points fault on the depot some trains have been delayed leaving the depot. This will effect the following journeys. 05.30 Longbenton - St James 06.24 - St James - South Shields 05.35 - Tynemouth - South Shields 06.44 - South Shields - St James"
