The way we all consume news has changed so much in recent years - from our newspaper and website to Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and TikTok, and everything in between. But whatever the platform, we are always proud to tell your stories and keep you informed about local news and sport from Newcastle and across the North East.

At the heart of this revolution in how we provide news to you throughout the day and night, is the desire to give the service that you want. We are constantly listening to the feedback that you provide, it is not always easy to hear, but nonetheless it is vital that we listen and learn from it.

With this in mind we are proud to tell you about how our app is evolving. We are launching ChronicleLive Premium which allows you to support our journalism and get the best user experience we can provide.

The new app is the best way to experience our journalism with NO adverts, pop ups or distractions. Just brilliant storytelling. You will be able to read 25 articles a week for free on the ChronicleLive app. After that, for £2.99 a month, or a one-off annual payment of £19.99, you get unlimited access and a host of extra features. Our website will remain free because it is important to us that financial hardship should not prevent anyone from accessing news.

ChronicleLive Premium is launching on iOS on Monday October 16 and will be launching on Android around the end of the month. So if you have an iPhone or iPad, you can get it very soon.

We have thought long and hard about asking you to pay for our work. We work hard to bring you the latest news across Newcastle and the North East, as well as up to date football news on NUFC and SAFC, and covering the most important issues relating to our local councils, central Government, health authorities and NHS, and all our courts and our police forces. But this all comes at a cost, and while, traditionally, advertising has taken the weight of proving our up to date news for free, many of you have complained that their experience is not what it could be, so at a relatively small cost you can now read our content without any advertising.

You can get a free one-month trial and can renew annually for £19.99, or £2.99 a month. When put into perspective and compared to your TV licence at £159 a year, Netflix at £10.99 a month, Amazon Prime at £8.99 per month or £95 per year, it is the cost of one takeaway coffee a month.

You will get:

  • An advert-free experience of all the stories you want to read

  • The News Digest, giving you everything you need to know in a quick and concise way.

  • The Edit which features specially curated stories relevant to you and your area

  • Five puzzles a day just for subscribers, including sudoku and crosswords

  • And Exclusive Offers on everyday products and deals to help you save cash
