It was starting to feel a whole lot like Christmas in Gosforth this Saturday as crowds turned out to do some festive shopping and enjoy some treats.

Gosforth Central Park in Newcastle added an early season twist to its monthly market and visitors made the most of the chance to browse a range of stalls which included some unique gift ideas. The Urban Park Market, which runs there on the last Saturday of the month, became the Urban Park Christmas Market for the day, offering families a chance to stock up and buy goodies for the big event.

Trade got under way at 10am and there was free entry for people to explore what was on offer. Stalls ranged from fashion, including vintage wear, to arts and crafts.

There were quirky Christmas decorations and reindeer-theme cakes and food outlets also included local street food favourites with plenty hot options too, including sizzling sausages plus snacks from pop-up regulars Acropolis, to help people keep warm on a chilly day.

The open-to-all Christmas market ran until 3pm and certainly spread some seasonal cheer. The popular park is cared for with the help of The Friends of Gosforth Central Park, which was set up a decade ago and has support from local businesses.
