Families will be able to enjoy 10 blockbuster movies free of charge in North Tyneside with the return of a school holiday treat.

A family film festival will be running in Richardson Dees Park, Wallsend, from August 21 to August 25 with two screenings a day on a large outdoor screen and families are invited to take along picnics to make the most of the outing. The programme will include popular children's films Encanto and Minions: The Rise of Gru before the Films in the Park event wraps up on the last day with Matilda the Musical and Lightyear.

Screenings, which have been hosted at the park before, will take place during the week at 10am and 1pm daily and will be free to attend, with no pre-booking required. The programme is organised by North Tyneside Council and funded through a North of Tyne Combined Authority initiative which is aimed at boosting town centre footfall.
