Holidaymakers who missed out on the Black Friday and Cyber Monday offer might still be able to grab themselves a travel bargain in a lesser-known day of deals this week.

'Travel Tuesday' is a day that is becoming an increasingly popular occasion for travel and holiday providers to drop prices on the likes of flights and hotels the day after Cyber Monday, meaning this year it falls on November 28. With all the major UK airlines already running special offers for Black Friday, Travel Tuesday means that these discounts could be extended or jetsetters may even see more deals drop.

Black Friday saw Jet2 offer up to £60 per person on package holidays, while easyJet offered customers up to £200 off their next holiday and TUI similarly slashed holiday prices by up to £265 for travellers using its app. Meanwhile, British Airways' offers included three nights for the price of two on city breaks, and Ryanair ran a whole Cyber Week special offer with flights from £19.99 - so this gives some idea of what customers can expect to see on Travel Tuesday.

Experts at flight comparison website Skyscanner has issued a list of top tips to help people make the most out of Travel Tuesday. The first thing they recommend is to activate price alerts on the Skyscanner app if you have any destinations in mind, which means you will get a notification whenever there is a price drop to save you having to keep checking back for deals.

Another of Skyscanner's top tips is to ensure you check other holiday need-to-knows besides just the price of your ticket or accommodation, such as whether in-flight meals are included in the cost and what the baggage policy is when it comes to your flight, and amenities at your chosen hotel to make sure you're getting the most for your money. Alongside this, the experts advise it's always worth checking up on cancellation policies - you never know when something is going to go wrong, and it always pays to have peace of mind.

You may well have your eye on a certain place or be set on specific dates - but a bit of flexibility can pay off when it comes to the price of your holiday, the Skyscanner experts suggest. Skyscanner has a handy 'Search Everywhere' feature if you need a bit of inspiration - for example, it could be cheaper to get a slice of French culture in the likes of Lyon or Marseille instead of making a beeline for Paris.

Flexibility around the dates of your trip, where possible, can help you to find cheaper deals too - again, Skyscanner has a 'Whole Month' search feature so you can scout around for the cheapest time to fly to your destination of choice. When you book, the experts said, booking a round-trip flight rather than a one-way ticket is typically the most cost-effective option.

"Unlike other major shopping days that attract a broad range of consumers, Travel Tuesday is geared toward travellers," the Skyscanner experts advised. "This means you may face less competition from non-travel shoppers, potentially making it easier to secure deals and offers."

They added: "Travel Tuesday deals are usually valid for travel dates ranging from January to May of the next year, which gives you more flexibility to plan trips based on your preferences and availability."
